Day 7: Heavy Metal

I don't know what I was thinking today.  Everything I touched turned to ugly!  I tried to recreate these silver seashells with a seashell of my own and some silver glittery nailpolish.  Yeah, not so good.  Then, I pulled out my silver metallic crochet thread and crocheted around a bangle, to which my oldest daughter said, "Mom, that's bad."  And not in a BAAAAD way, as in Michael Jackson Bad- as in bad- period.  I looked to my pinterest board for inspiration and found some silver filagree earrings I liked and I had all the stuff in gold, so TA-DA.  These earrings were born.  From silver to gold.
The cool metallic seashells I was trying to copy.

Silver glitter nailpolish + shells = U.G.L.Y.

The failed silver bangle attempt.

The adorable earrings from My Girlish Whims (tutorial, for those interested!).

My supplies:  filigree balls, headpins, and chain

My golden version came out not so bad!

Day 6: Chain and Rhinestone Bracelet

I saw this tutorial on Pinterest and decided to give it a try.  I must say, it's harder than it looks!  I had to tape the stuff down the entire time and do it a little bit at a time.  What a pain in the rear!  You basically sew together 2 chains with a rhinestone strand in the center using twine or thread or cording.  I think it came out a little twisted, but ok.  I made it a bit large, about 7.5 inches but it can be tightened by hooking it on a chain further up.  It's glam, for sure!

Day 6:  COMPLETE

FABULOUSLY GLAM!

Purple Black White Treasury on Etsy

2 of my 3 kids are home sick today, so I made a little treasury- stop by and check out some lovely items and "window" shop from your 'puter. :)

Day 5: Revamped Earrings- From Old to New Again!

The "before" shot- EWWWW!

When I started out making jewelry last Aug, my mom was into it too.  We collected a lot of junk jewelry, and luckily for me- she quit.  Now she knits for our shop, but I was lucky enough to be the receiver of all her leftover jewelry makings.  Today, I walked into my craft room and randomly started opening up her stuff and came across these- YIKES!  These very overdone copper earrings with dark blue stones and stuffed with light blue plastic gems.  On posts, people.  These are horrid, and I decided to redo them with a Sharpie, black glass beads and new French hooks.  Hoooooray!  Much sexier!  And now, for sale!

I cut everything off, and colored the stones
with black sharpie- looking good so far!

The finished product- hot stuff!

Day 4: Wish Bracelets

I guess stackable wish bracelets are the new friendship bracelets.  I have seen these floating around Etsy, and thought, "I can do that."  My 10 year old was ready to snatch up the first one!  I posted 2 to my site.  They are really delicate and pretty- and even better- they use up some of the beads I was planning to destash anyway!

The deal is, you tie the bracelet on and when it falls off, your wish is supposed to come true.  I like these- we'll see what I can come up with.  I need to wear a stack of these suckers- I have a lot of wishes I'd like to come true!  I popped it on my store site- we'll see if it sells.  UPDATE:  IT SOLD IN 4 HOURS!

Day 3: Champagne Green Glass Drop Earrings

Ok, people.  This is getting difficult.  I have so much STUFF in my craft room, and not enough inspiration.  I made these green glass drop earrings today, but as I went though stuff I realized that I really need to do a destash of some sort to get rid of some things I don't know what to do with.  I am going to start working on a destash section of my etsy store, and get some of this stuff outta my house!  So, I'm not entirely satisfied with today, but at least I completed my Day 3!  Honestly, I wish my uber-organized mother were here (she's on vacay in Florida)- she would be a tremendous asset to this de-stash process!  Showing the love, Mom!

While Browsing Blogs, I Found....

I am still a new blogger, and I was browsing blogs this morning, while supervising Saturday school, and I came across the Etsy Hearts Beads Team blog.  They had a contest called "What Ever Should I Wear for Spring," and I was totally delighted to see that this winning treasury was featuring a pink beaded and button necklace that I made.  SOOOOO COOOL!   That was very exciting!
